The Work and Life of Aimal Khan in WTU

Aimal Khan is an Assistant Professor in the School of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering at Wuhan Textile University (WTU). He belongs to Pakistan. After completing his Ph.D. and post-doctoral studies at Huazhong University of Science and Technology, he joined the research group of Prof. Xiaoxia Li and Aihua Xu in at WTU.


He said that WTU is a renowned institution of higher education in Wuhan. It offers a wide range of academic programs in various fields such as textile engineering, materials science, fashion design, and so on. The university attracts students from all over the world who are eager to pursue their academic and professional goals. WTU provides a rich environment for academic and research activities and plays a crucial role in fostering innovation and research in the textile industry. This diverse environment not only enhances the academic experiences of students but also fosters collaboration and innovation across various disciplines. In this setting, WTU stands as a beacon of knowledge and innovation, drawing from the city's rich culture and dynamic economic environment to provide students with a comprehensive and immersive educational experience. With an emphasis on research, innovation, and real-world application, WTU undoubtedly offers students a unique and valuable educational experience essential for success in the textile industry. WTU aims to address these challenges and opportunities by incorporating sustainable design practices into its curriculum and research endeavors.


He constructed effective systems for the degradation of various refractory organic pollutants through the advanced oxidation process and evaluated the catalytic efficiencies of transition-metal oxides catalysts. Synthesized many innovative manganese-based catalysts and composites with success, and he has plans to continue innovating to treat organic contaminants through less toxic materials in real industrial wastewater. To degrade organic pollutants by peroxymonosulfate or sulfite activation, it was discovered that Mn-based nanostructure catalysts demonstrated notable stability and reusability. According to him, theoretical advancements and important technologies for effective wastewater treatment are anticipated to be broken through by the unique Mn-based catalysts-based advanced oxidation technology. The environmentally friendly nature of the catalyst further supports its potential for green chemistry applications, aligning with the growing emphasis on sustainable practices in the chemical industry.


Additionally, he supervises master and undergraduate students in the laboratory, helping them to enhance their research abilities, share their practical experience with experiments, and discuss important literature. He solves the current issue by talking with the professors about the key concerns that are related to research. He has published 13 SCI research articles in WTU, including Chemical Engineering Journal, Separation and Purification Technology, Journal of Hazardous Materials. Moreover, he successfully earned the Ministry of Science and Technology's "Young Foreign Talents Program" in 2022 with the support of a team of professors.

Further, he said the WTU organized a visit to the Jiangxia sewage treatment plant; from this practical view, he got a lot of information. He enjoys outdoor activities with group members like Liangzi Lake, Bafenshan Hill, East Lake, and Zhongshan Warship Museum; he said it was wonderful and enjoyed it a lot.
